You stay up for 16 hours

He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.

He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

We all want out troops back home. But who will defend us from evil terrorists that want us dead?

I hope for a safe return for our troops.

Our troops cannot defend us from the terrorists if they are spending all their time and resources (and lives!) stuck in the middle of a civil war.

Our troops cannot protect us when they are walking wounded because they keep getting sent back into battle without proper medical attention.

Our troops cannot protect us when they are so tired, and depleted and over-extended from being in the middle of someone else's civil war that we couldn't deploy them in less than months if we did need them.

Yes, they are witnesses horrors over there and doing it out of loyalty. And their loyalty is betrayed by those of us at home who allow their lives and limbs and buddies to be wasted in a needless military exercise that accomplishes absolutely nothing towards making us safer.

So, who is going to defend us when all our troops are busy wasting their time and lives somewhere else?

I agree with coragryh. This war is doing absolutely nothing to protect us from terrorists. And it is also not doing anything for the american people either. Question: how is wanting the troops to stay there supporting them, and how is wanting them to come home and see their families not supporting them?

I look at every single one of those soldiers out in the field, in the air, or at sea, as my brothers and sisters. I think of them every day and I pray for them every night.
I remember those we lost and I think of them too every day and pray for them every night.
Thanks for reminding us of the sacrifice these brave men and women make to this country every day.

God Bless Our Troops.

All terror does not come from Iraq. Look at Great Britain, most of theirs is home grown. Yes, I'd rather it be over there than here. However, we have had terror on our shores for over 50 years. It is not something that is going away and it is not something that can be fought by land wars. It is a war of ideology.
