Is there a race or country, or category that would be proud of what we collectively render as a species?

Or do we all just expect to be saved or protected or exempt or just free and clear of all responsibility, for what we render here on earth?

Many atheists believe that humans are the most advanced species in the (known) universe, so I guess you could call that a form of pride.

The ancient Greeks believed that humans were the pinnacle of creation, and were the standard against which all other things should be judged.

Most societies are pretty hard on humans, though. Like ours. Ever seen a Disney cartoon? The point of most Disney cartoons is "people are evil and stupid!" In our society, when we do something wrong, we say it's because we're "only human". I hope we learn to like ourselves some day.

When he distinguishes himself from animals,
then he becomes a human.

When he realises that he is the highest of all
creation, then he becomes a human.

When he develops his intellect,
then he becomes a human.

When he becomes an example for others,
then he becomes a human.

When he transcends the common limitations
through his wisdom, then he becomes best of humans.
