What's Goin' On-Marvin Gaye--I like this song, just because it tells the truth and it has such lasting quality...it fit then and it fits now...
Don't Give up- Alicia Keys and Bono--the song was written by the two of them, and it's speaking to Africa. I just really love the lyrics, and the message that it's not only sending to Africa but to America and the other countries that can help...

Totally relivant to today's world whether you're talking the prez or congress or the rip-off oil companies.
Harry Truman by Chicago
America needs you
Harry truman
Harry could you please come home
Things are looking bad
I know you would be mad
To see your favorite men
Prevail upon the land you love
Americas wondering
How we got here
Harry all we get is lies
Were gettin safer cars
Rocket ships to mars
From men whod sell us out
To get themselves a piece of power
Wed love to hear you speak your mind
In plain and simple ways
Call a spade a spade
Like you did back in the days
You would play piano
Each morning walk a mile
Speak of what was going down
With honesty and style
Americas calling
Harry truman
Harry you know what to do
The world is turnin round and losin lots of ground
Oh harry is there something we can do to save the land we love
Oh woah woah woah
Americas calling
Harry truman
Harry you know what to do
The world is turnin round
And losin lots of ground
Harry is there something we can do to save the land we love
Oh
Harry is there something we can do to save the land we love
Harry
Harry is there something we can do to save the land we love

I really like the Dixie Chicks, "Not Ready to Make Nice"--and no, I'm not some white trash redneck, I normally don't even like country. But this song has such powerful lyrics and you can really tell their emotion. It's just gives me the impression that it's not fair for people to pick and choose what's politically "unacceptable". You can say one thing horrible about politics and government officials and everyone laughs, and then say something else and everyone wants to hunt you down and kill you. Where do you draw the line and who's in charge of deciding this???

"Land of Confusion"
It was fitting in the 80s, and it still rings true today. Plus, Disturbed is just cool, although the original version was good, too. The Reagan puppets freaked me out, though, when I was younger.
