With the defections by some republicans, is the party nervous about facing the voters? I mean, none of the benchmarks were hit and Bush and many republicans still want to stay the course?? Besides that, Bush's immigration proposal stalled in the Senate.

Why do you call it the Bush's immigration proposal, it was the Bush-Kennedy Bill? I can only assume that you have a bias against Bush.
Will the Republicans pay a price?
I believe that this site and others indicate that many people identify the problems of our country as a single focus--Bush.
Bush is seen as the Republican Party.
The Republican Party candidates voice on real issues are being overshadowed by Democrats focus on the war and Bush.
Democrats are running against Bush. Even though he is not a candidate. And it seems to be working.
Democrates will probably win the 2008 election. Then we will see if they will provide us a better way of life or more problems.

They did, in the 2006 election.

But the Democrats have been screwing up just as badly, and the Republicans have gained support by distancing themselves from Bush, and killing that stupid amnesty bill.

Have you seen the polls lately? 2008 will be another "shock and awe" for Republicans. But, they have nobody to blame but themselves - I believe they call it "personal responsibility".
