I work evenings and when I come home most days I don’t find any parking space outside my house. Today I came home and found a car that I don’t recognise as of my neighbours and a taxi parked outside my house. This taxi seems to be parked nearly every night outside my house. I couldn’t find parking space outside my house and had to park my new car somewhere else. I was so piss#d off I was going to slash the tires of the taxi. Can I report the taxi or does he have a right if he pays road tax, I live in the UK.

You can park wherever you like on.....as long as it isn't private property or requires a permit from say the council...or near a road junction or other hazardous area...see the highway code...I get sick of people who think the road outside their home belongs to them. This is my house and this is my space...like a little baby...I've had my car damaged before by such people and if you slash the guys tires you should be arrested. There's nothing you can do about it. I'm not sure about business veicles though..I mean if it were a muckle lorry you might have a case.

don't slash his tyres or it will bether for ages. i do know how you feel as it quite often happens to me and it can p*ss one off.
i took my son to the hospital last week and thought i'd save a few quid in parking fees by parking in a back raod and walk from there. i did not park outside anyones house in fact i made a point not to. when i return from the hospital a leaflet on my car inform me that i was not a resident or visitor to the road and if my car was seen there again it would be clamped.
this was from the residents that live in the road. there were no signs to say that its restricted parking or any thing to suggest it. maybe if you got together with your neighbours you could do the same.

If its a state owned street, not a private road, then as long as its taxed, MOTd & insured, they can park where they like.
I have the same problem. I came in from work at 00:35 this morning & had to park 1/4 of a mile away from my house.
Dont stress about it. Your probably parked in someone-elses "spot" and they think the same about you.

Yes it is a public road therefore any one can park there, If they pay their road tax. Some **** hole parked his old banger outside my house for about 4 months without ever using it, but it had tax so there was nothing I could do about it.

As long as they do not prevent your access of the road, ie blocking a gate or a driveway then they can park where they like as long as it is safe and there is no road markings saying he cant.
Otherwise yes they can park anywhere they like, they do it down our road and its murder to get down it because there are sharp bends and cars parked on both sides, but there is nothing we can do. Very wrong and ver dangerous sometimes.

if the cab is privately owned and he works the night shift also then leave him a note about the displeasure of him parking in front of your home . road tax or not it down right rude to do this to a neighbor. also you may call your local constable and ask if he is in violation of any law governing taxis . he may be able to help . by the way i'm a yank and it would be very rude to do it here and as for the law its like airspace you own it to the center of the street.

if it privately owned then buy a clamp and clamp em. if not you don't own the road if it has road tax it can park anywhere legally. just like you do without thinking about it you own or rent your home not the public highway outside. by your logic if there is a residential property in a street you cant park

The simple answer to this is yes you can. the road is not private. but you cant block someones drive or park in a disabled bay or a residents parking zone either.

If it is a public road, then any vehicle with a tax disc can be parked there.

If it is a private road (i.e. not maintained by the local authority), anyone who wishes to park there needs permission from whoever owns the road.

I Don't KNOW FOR SURE about the U.K.,but common sense would dictate that unless you live on a privately owned road, anyone can park any where they please,as-long as the roadway is not posted "no parking".
