Is that 2 + x/y or (2+x)/y?

If it's the first, then I think it becomes (2y+x)/4.

If it's the second, then it will be (2y+x)/4

invert the divisor and multiply:

(2+x/y)* y/4 = 2y/4+x/4 = 0.5y+x/4

simplify 2 + x/y first:

2y+x
-------
y

then
2y + x
-----------
y
-----------------------
4
------------
y

equals:

(2y + x)/y * (y/4)

equals

2y + x
-----------
4
