Since Israel clearly has the most to lose if/when US troops leave Iraq, so why not send the Israeli army into Baghdad? I'm sure the Iraqis would be thrilled.

Overjoyed. And it would mean Israel pretty much triples in size and has a vast amount of land to defend when the inevitable "everyone declares war on Israel the occupier" happens.

It's quite one thing for Arab states to see the US in one of their brother's countries. The US is very powerful and could do some pretty serious damage. Israel on the other hand...

Besides I don't think you could pass Iraq off on Israel - everyone knows enough to stay WELL clear of Iraq, it's absolute political suicide.

Why not let your cat take care of your parakeet! 8^)

The Arabic world already sees the Iraq war as Israeli aggression. They think we're doing it all for Israel. You know how the Israeli flag has two blue stripes with a Star of David between them? The Arabs believe those signify the Jordan and Euphrates rivers, and that the Israelis claim all the land between them and mean to conquer it. It's not true, of course, but why should we try to prove that it -is-!

We are trying to -stabilize- the Middle East, but everything we do just makes things worse. Putting Israel in Iraq--or even letting them join our 'coalition--would be a disaster.

Has Israel indicated a willingness to accept it? I think they may have enough to deal with now! How do you know they would take it? Give it back to the Iragi's, let them know they are being watched, and we can be back anytime! Then see what happens!
