Anesthesiology is a medical specialty. You have to complete medical school and get your MD before you complete your residency in this area as a post MD graduate. Chemistry would probably be a good choice for someone headed in this career direction.

You understand, right, that medical school is very tough to get into? The med schools are not going to look at your high school grades, but once you get to college you can not afford to get even ONE grade that is less than excellent, or your med school chances will go down fast. If you had trouble with high school chem or calc, then things don't look too good for college. As a premed you will have to take some of the toughest courses in college.

I'm not saying you can't do it, but push is coming to shove. You MUST buckle down and do a great job in college or your med school hopes will go up in smoke.

Good luck. Keep focused!

It's never too late.
I would major in biology maybe, then go to med school you graduate.
Don't you have a career counselor at your school?
