I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu and never cared that levels 1 & 2 stopped working for almost 2 years now but now levels 3 & 4 don't work. Has anyone else had this problem and what does it cost to fix? Thanks so much!

The blower has a resistor that controls the blower speed.Have this checked at a local auto shop or the dealer. This part is cheep and labor is fair. It takes about five minuites to tell if the part is bad.Hope this helps.

Get a 2 dollar test light from the auto parts store. If the blower motor has power and ground, and doesn't turn, it's defective. If it does not, the blower resistor and switch are next to test. Normally, the blower motor will retain high blower speed even with a bad resistor, thus I would start at the switch, if the blower has no power on high.

You need a blower resistor. It is under the passenger side dash by the blower motor beside the fire wall. one plug and two 5.5 mm bolts and it's out. It's a little hard to reach but not to bad. It is also possible that your blower motor has failed because if your resistor goes bad it should always work on hi by default. I would replace them both because the resistor is easier to get at when the blower motor is out then your blower will work on all settings.
