I think as experiences grow so does wariness of situations. Not fearfulness as such just wary of the consequences of different things you have witnessed or been involved in. Wisdom comes with age (to some) ...

It seems it depends upon your own physiological mind-set. Men may in some circumstances become more fearful then women. Example, a man will feel that his virility is at it end, (mid-life crisis) and leave his wife and kids to make himself feel whole. Buy that sports car he always wanted, a boat, or that trip he could never take because he believed he was stuck in a rut with a family that he thinks (now) he never wanted.
Women on the other hand seem to try to keep a marriage together. The stronger sex? Maybe. But they do have their fears and in some instances, stronger then when they were younger.

There is no definite answer to a question of fear as one grows older. I my-self am less fearful. Life is just a time between birth and death, no sense in worrying about what it will bring you, Just let it be.

In general I'm not afraid of much. As I get older I am probably getting less fearful because life experience has shown me that most of the time there is nothing to worry about or fear.

On the other hand, my ex-wife was practically afraid of her own shadow. Her father was a sheriff and so she grew up hearing about all the bad things people would do. Plus she would watch the news hand hear about all the bad crap. And she started to believe people were looking to victimize her. She almost wouldn't cross the street for fear of getting hit by a bus.

In general though, I think most people learn there is little to fear in average day to day situations. And if anything they become complacent about risks in their normal life. I also think many people develop irrational fears about disease and/or crime based on over hyped news reports. Bird Flu anyone? Sure it's something that had the potential to be major problem, but the risk to most people was almost zero.

I think I qualify to answer this question as I will be 57 years old soon. I would say, for myself and most of those I know who are my age, they have become more fearless. It gets to the point where you say to yourself, "what the hell...what have I got to lose?" and you do what you damned well please without hurting anyone. At least, that's what I do. And I can tell you it's liberating and refreshing to have that attitude. And guess what? No one else really cares!!! Ahh Hahhh!!! How about that? So, go ahead and be fearless NOW if you're young! Godloveyahoney!

Depends on the individual's personality and the situation.
I have been and am both.
I am fearless about what others think of me and my opinions.
But I fear things like being homeless. Not that I think it will happen, but I would really not like it.
I like to know I have a roof over my head and a meal coming soon.
I would be afraid that my kids would not love me when I grow old and cranky and I am afraid that I would lose my mind and become incapable of taking care of myself when I get old.

Generally people are fearful of A and fearless of B.

When they grow older, they become fearless of A and fearful of B.

For me, I multiply A by B, and I get a constant.

C = A x B

Generally, people grow more fearless because they get tired of people's bullsh*t and they grow wise to it.

in my case fearful, see when im a kid i dont think about the consequences of what i do or maybe i dont even know what the consequences are.. or maybe if i do, i dont really bother. as i grow i realize that there are a lot of things to consider before i act out to what is happening around me, it affects my decision and perception in life and that makes me cautious and fearful of having mistakes that will make regret for the rest of my life.

Fearless I guess. Me, I used to be unsure of anything, but when I reached 30, I became unafraid of anything.
