Martian life or earth mutants?

NASA is continually looking for evidence of life on Mars. With all the probes that we have sent to the Martian surface, if we do find microbes in the Martian soil how will we know they are not just mutated earth bugs that were carried on the spacecraft?

Even though the series of martian probes have searched for some signs of life, we couldn't tell for sure that they were truly alien. The instruments carried by the surface probes simply don't have the capability of such a precise analysis. If/when men get to Mars it'll be a different story.

There's that one meteorite that we know came from an ancient impact on Mars and that some researchers think they've found fossilized microbes in.
