my family laughs at me but i can't help it- i love art and humanities (though i hat the music part). every pic that i see, i inspect. My bro (the only one who understands) and i comment all the time on game art// texture and all that kind of stuff. i love Bernini's art and most of the early art like renissance, baroque- hellenistic- classical. the only thing i hate about about art is moden art- it's so ugly. who would pay millions for work that looks like it was done by a baby? anyhow- does anyone ele share my passion?

I respect art and I love to look at it. I studied art my first time around in college, but I found I am too much of a historian and that is what I am studying now. I do disagree with you on modern art. Try looking at the works of Dali and Picasso. They are considered modern artist and that certainly could not be done by a baby. Another artist you should look at, and my first true inspiration, is Piet Mondrian. He did geometric abstraction and yes anybody could do it, but I feel some of that inspiration could have come from Native American works. He used geometric shapes like some of the works form ancient America. It is a stretch, but after viewing his works and looking at pottery from South America, it is interesting to compare the two styles.

I do respect the Renaissance and love the works of Michelangelo. I think his best piece is the "Pieta." It is the most moving piece he has ever done. You haven't mentioned the Impressionists. I like the works of Gauguin and Degas. I assume you do not like this time period in art. I think it is wonderful.

I think it is great that others like art. If you think you are a geek, enjoy the title. I think art needs to keep going. If we lose art, then we lose a piece of us.

Don't put up with your family laughing at you because you love art. To respect art is an amazing enough trait, but to actually be able to understand and love art, my dear, that is a gift. There are so many amazing things out there to see, don't cheat yourself by demeaning your passion just because you're family are incapable of understanding it. Let their opinions roll off your back.

I am a "geek" about everything, including art and music (modern art too), and I wouldn't (and couldn't) change for a million bucks. I consider myself a Renaissance Man.

Ignore those who laugh, since responding to ignorance is wasted effort.
