I had sole/separate custudy of children for seven years, verbal agreement no child support in exchange for keeping my retirement. No order was established for child support. Statute of limitations? Children are now 35 and 33. She has been remarried 23 years. Any advice appreciated.

she remarried 23 years ago so i doubt any judge would grant her half your retirement. If I were you I would still contact a lawyer and get advice on it.you can do that for free.do a google search for divorce lawyers in your area and add the words free phone consultation to the search.Good luck.it sounds as if your ex and her husband are a couple of leaches who made poor financial decisions over the last 23 years and want you to pay for it.

Guy, you should see a lawyer. Reasons:

#1. Child support ceases when the child turns 18
#2. If she's remarried, allimony is out too (Once she remarries, the new guy is responsible for her, financially as well as emotionally)
#3. It's your retirement money!!! The kids are all grown up, their support ended over 15 years ago; once she remarried allimony should have ceased, and most importantly, you've done more than most from the sounds of it.

Now it's your turn to live, don't let her suck any more of your money into her pampered life. That's her current hubby's job! SEE A LAWYER LIKE NOW!!! :)

Hope that helps!

The only things she can go back to court over are child custody and support so if she wants part of your retirement now after allthese years shes out of luck and nothing legal to stand on now. You have nothing to worry about here and if she should get it back into court, sue for back child support from her

OMFG...if there isn't a Statute of Limitations on 23 years..there should be!!! I remember hearing somewhere that if the spouse or ex as it were got re-married then the entitlements formerly owed were no longer owed...i'm no lawyer but if she tries to screw you over...take her to Judge Judy!! That spunky ol chick will straighten her dumb a** out...

wish you luck....definitely get a lawyer involved...

My dad is wonderful. My mother said she didn't want any of his retirement but when it came time for him to collect, she changed her mind. I could tell he was irritated by this but he shrugged and said she earned her share working in the home while he worked outside the home and graciously allowed her to claim her legal share. My dad being the bigger person and putting peace before money is the best thing he ever did for me during the divorce and after. How important is this money to you?
