Chernoff works for Bush. Bush needs to keep Americans as fearful of another terrorist attack as possible so that they forget about the failure of his Surge in Iraq (& all his other failures at home). The moment Americans stop worrying about terrorists attacks Bush will be in even bigger trouble than he is right now.

He is trying his best to make people more aware that we are vulnerable and should not relax our vigil. Yes, by fighting them "over there" we ARE making it more difficult for them to attack us here. But it's still possible. being a disgruntled republican isn't a bad thing, I'm one too, but remember this, George Bush is living proof that we americans would rather elect an idiot than a liberal!! LOL

We have to be right 100% of the time...they only need to be right once....how many attacks have been stopped just in the last couple of months??....its inevitable that they will get through our defenses at some time regardless of if we are over there fighting or not......but not fighting them over there just gives them more opportunity, resources, time, money to concentrate on over here....use your head on this and be thankful they don't have the opportuntity to devote everything here...at least not at this time....its also a matter of time before the quiters get their way...then look out!!

Would you rather have one of our cities on fire now or have the Secretary of Homeland Security say he has a "gut" feeling that we will be attacked? At least if he has that feeling he can be more vigilant about preventing an attack here.
It is still wise to be fighting them on their land to stop as many as we can before they get here.

No, it wouldn't mean he failed to protect us! Who the freaking hell knows how these terrorists think and what their plans are? Since summer is vacation time, it might make sense for an attack to happen when everyone's concentrating on their vacation!

He's covering his butt just in case something does happen. If it does, he can say "see? I told you so" and if not then he may claim "I was being cautious--it's my job".
