Only if it were a full year's measure, but it's not, right it's a tiny leveling off of the spiralling downard graph. Liberal media or not, nobody can deny the horrible storm of bad news coming from Iraq, thanks to poor republican leadership.
When the civil war ends, that will be a little good news, so with a lot more sacrifice, we can, if we are lucky, get back to where we were THREE YEARS AGO!!!!!

While Iraqi civilian casualties are down, U.S. military losses are still running high. June ended the deadliest quarter for U.S. troops in Iraq since the war began in March 2003 — 330 deaths. That surpasses the 316 soldiers killed during November 2004 to January 2005.
Adding in 30,000 more US troops of course will reduce the civilian casualties. You ignore the increase in US troop deaths though. I suppose that is a good trade off for you? After the number of civilian deaths the last 5 days in Iraq (150 alone in one day in one location) it looks like the insurgents are also reading the AP stories.

It's funny... the war in Iraq is a fiasco and Bush's approval rating is plummeting by virtually all accounts OTHER than on Yahoo, where the war in Iraq is an inspiring success story and Bush is a visionary whose heroic vision and steely resolve will be vindicated in due time. The New York Post is a tabloid, by the way. Any publication that routinely runs celebrity "news" items on the front page is not a serious news source; sorry.

Actually, your numbers are obsolete.
There was a significant drop in the early parts of June, though the article you quote was from May 20th.
But the past two weeks have seen the highest civilian deaths in the past year.
So, in other words, you had a temporary reduction in violence, followed by the same continual overall increase we've seen for the past two years.
Your numbers on Congressional approval ratings are also obsolete -- try reading polls within the past couple months, or better yet the past couple weeks, rather than from last fall.

If the liberal media isn't telling this info, how come I have heard it over and over for the last several days on multiple "liberal" news stations and papers? And did you know controlling 50% of the capital 3+ years after we invaded isn't anything to brag about? And did you know that everyone has always hates Congress, but loves their own Congressmen?

Did you know that the US military has zero control of the Iraqi borders which means more terrorists, their supplies & their IEDs can cross right into Iraq anytime they want?
So the US might have 50% of Baghdad but who cares? It still won't win the war because they have no control of the borders.

looks like iraq has up swings and down swings
In fact, June 2007 saw 55% higher iraqi deaths than June 2006
and so far in july, deaths are up 28% over June
thanks

Iraq has become a giant bop-a-mole board. If we get rid of them in Baghdad, they pop up somewhere else. If this type of action is the only thing that works, I guess we have to resign ourselves to living in ALL their neighborhoods FOREVER. Otherwise, whenever we leave, they'll just come back.

Congresses rating is lower than Bush's because Americans know that the Republicans are not on board with their wishes to end the war and bring the troops home now
the Republicans will pay on election day

Yes, but it doesn't fit into the terrorists 5th column agenda. The 1st world press is the # 1 salesperson for the merchants of death. Violence increases their ratings there by increasing their advertising income.
