Dear greggymcgurks,
Thank you for being what seems to be the only person on earth (besides me) that remembers the Patriots went 8-8 and MISSED the playoffs after their first Super Bowl win. All of those idiots on television act like that never even happened. The ugly New England quarterback didn't even hit a car during that off season.
Cheers,
La Di ♥ Big Ben
To answer the question, it all depends on how well the players (esp. the veterans) fit in the new system and how fast they can adjust. Then there seems to be a big thing amongst fans about if our defense will be 3-4 or 4-3, but they seem to forget that we still have Dick LeBeau. I could definitely see us shocking the talking heads and making the playoffs!
Dear Chiefs and Nachos,
Watch the Steelers playoff run again and tell me truthfully that Ben wasn't a beast! On the NFL Network's Game of the Week series that showed us playing the Colts, you HEAR Tony Dungy saying they can't run the ball, it's all passing. Don't get me wrong, I love my boys on D, but Troy P. didn't throw those touchdowns, Larry Foote didn't catch a touchdown. It was all Ben. Don't even throw the game against the Bungles at me. Carson Palmer is a good quarterback, but that's just it. He's on the OFFENSE. He would have not stopped Ben from completing 14/19, for 208 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INTs. Yes, Ben had an AWFUL Super Bowl. But then our D bailed him out. So, before you judge him on just that ONE game, you need to consider the WHOLE PLAYOFF RUN! You want to hate on Ben so bad, well did you notice that Peyton Manning was an AVERAGE quarterback at best this past post-season? No quarterback ever had a summer like Ben did in 2006, but he's resilient, and he WILL bounce back.

I wouldn't say it would be too surprising... the Steelers are a great team and always have been. Think of it this way... the Patriots won their first superbowl in a very out of no where type of fashion... didn't make the playoffs the next year and then subsequently turned themselves into this decades dynasty... the Steelers could very well do the same thing after laying low for a year. I hope not though... I'm hoping the Pats get their 4th title in 7 years. I just look forward to some good ol' football. The Steelers will most definitely be responsible for a lot of that.

That would be a surprise all right. What the hell happened to those guys? Win a Superbowl and then fall apart? Where is their pride? I didn't see the Colts lay down. (darn it)
I wish you Pittsburg fans luck. I'm not a fan of yours but I respect the Steelers---except for last year----that was just aweful. They won't do much until they get hungry and back to the team that is focused on winning. I did not see that last year.

They could be. The Ravens are the only thing to stand in their way division wise, great defense, but a suspect offense. Cincinnati isn't for real, Carson Palmer puts up the numbers, but they've only had one winning season with him as a starter. In fact that was their only winning season in like 15 years. Plus they can't stop the run. And the Browns are the Browns.
LOL @ La Di, you can tell she didn't read all of Greggy's comment.

I don't care how healthy Ben Roethlisberger is, the Steelers have lost entirely too many key players to contend for anything this year. I think they'll probably go 8-8 and miss the playoffs again.

Will the Cleveland Browns ever win a championship? The answer is the same as the question I just asked.
And may I tell the guy above that Jerome Bettis retired.

No. Their defense isn't good enough to carry them like it did 2 years ago and Trent Dilfer, oops, I mean Big Ben (it's hard to tell them apart - they both play the same weak, pathetic brand of QB) can't carry the team on his shoulders when defenses key on Willie Parker.

Of course, with Cowher coaching them and Bettis running the ball, and Joey Porter patroling the middle they will be great. As long as they got them guys, they are set.
