A complete and utter mess and we are going to hunker down in that billion dollar "American" embassy and guard as much oil as we can.

There was nothing wrong with our attempt to help clear the way for some form of representative government in Iraq, except that the influential locals over there are untrustworthy, corrupt and incompetent. There will be a civil war. The UN will issue some do nothing proclamations and within 5-10 years we'll again be be kicking our President while the turmoil continues.

Talk about a nightmare. I feel so sorry for the people living there. From one hell right into a next hell. The other day 100 people died from one bomb!!!!
They have operatives who had never before set foot in Iraq fighting US forces there, and when I heard about Turkey all I could think was good God!!!!
The only thing I think will happen for certain IS a civil war and perhaps thats exactly what they need. To finally fight themselves for themselves. I mean, how do you force democracy down the throats of people who weren't seeking it in the first place. There were no groups fighting Saddam, no underground movements, no artist speaking out from the safety of other nations.

A complete mess?
Right now they're TRYING to bring political/social/religious stability to the country as well as continuing on implementing their so-called (American) democratic system. It's bullcrap.
The whole War on Terror and the crusades against Afghanistan and Iraq were huge blunders/failures/mistakes, whatever you want to call them. It was all mainly economically-driven, Bush isn't even smart enough to care about
humanitarian goodwill.
Some Iraqis claim they were better off WITH Saddam Hussein in power.
Look at the death toll among U.S. troops, amazingly high and counting. This war is ANYTHING but a success.
We will never prevail over terrorism until we come to understand it and its motivations.

It was never a real nation and could/can only be held together by a ruthless dictator on the model of Yugoslavia. I suspect in the end, something similar will happen there with three or so new, homogeneous nations after a few rounds of ethnic cleansing.
