I can afford one, so obviously I'm not jealous about not having one. My significant other never "ran off with a biker" so it's not that. I've ridden them before, so I do understand. And, from what I've been told on more than one occassion, I am a real man. So I pass all the cliche tests of what supposedly is required (according to many of the Harley guys on Yahoo Answers) and yet I still don't want one. According to the requirements set forth by all the Harley guys, I should be unloading all sorts of cash at the Harley dealer and riding home on 800 pounds of underpowered chrome. For some reason I'd rather ride my BMW. Can someone please tell me what my problem is?

You don't really have a problem. I think the fact that you are on a decent income and have figured out that the Harley thing is 75% hype and 25% technology indicates that you are an intelligent fellow who exercises some freedom of will.

Why run with the crowd when you can enjoy all the benefits of owning a motorcycle which has been engineered this century and quite frankly, does not need the hype and the kid-ology to sell itself.

Show that you are a man and ride the bike that you want to ride and not feel you are 'Odd' because you can see through the BS.

Ive ridden them all,and raced most, yes even a harley!!(F2 side car) and Im right with you there, although I just like the gold wing a little better, I wouldent throw rocks at no beemer eather, but as far as a harley, its more of a statis thing,I know from experiance, they dont build the best motorcycles in the world but I still like them, there noisy, smelly, got the torque from way down low and just a fun ride, Your problem my friend is your more worried about what someone might think of you riding kraut crap rather than riding, myself i could give a flyinratsass what ya think bout my rice burner, wanna see my race bike, Ive been lookin fer someone stupid enough to passenger for me,and all ya need is balls of brass, thats a real man(though Ive seen em on some girls too)

You didn't say what kind of BMW you have, but maybe you just like its style better than you like the style of any Harley.

Me? I don't make nearly as much money as you, but I don't want a Harley. I want a Suzuki V-Strom 650, or a Kawasaki KLR650. Since I can't decide, I haven't gotten either.

You have no problem!!! Why give big bucks to a harley dealer. Rip off merchants!!
Stick with the refined, reliable BMW. In time the others will follow.

Man.. rhand182 has it right on the money. Its obvious that anyone that owns a Harley that answered your question had to give a giant ****** answer. I'm sure while they are clocking their 700 miles a year going back and forth to the local bar while dressed in frilly leather on their 65 hp chrome crapiles and raking in $30k per year, your out enjoying that finely crafted piece of german machinery. Its your smarts that nets you $200k per year and makes you want to ride a Beemer.

Let me get this strait.. You would rather ride BMW motorcycles than harleys? That would probably make you informed and someone that prefers quality over brand name hype. And old. Sorry but I do believe just setting on a BMW motorcycle ages you 20-30 years instantly. I do love them so but I'm scared to be in contact with them very long.

Don't let other people tell you what you should or shouldn't buy. If you're happy not having a Harley, then that's fantastic! There's nothing wrong with you if you don't want one. You can definitely be a "real man" without a Harley.

If you make over $200K of year you can buy a nice new bike like the Dyna Fat Bob and still have plenty of money left over for accessories and a couple cool outfits. No one will want to talk to a sissy on one of those BMW (or Jap) piles of crap, but heads always turn when the real man rolls up on the Harley with the thunder from American made V Twin power throbbing from the tailpipes.

Who cares? If you don't want one you don't want one. Why would you care what anyone else thinks, or think that there is something wrong with you. If I could afford any car at all, I would NOT get an Escalade. I know people that think I am insane. I don't really care what anyone else thinks about what I choose to drive or why. You are obviously smart and know what you want. Enjoy your BMW.

You're so full of it I can smell it from here. If you made that kind of money you'd own 5 Harleys and you'd have an entire wardrobe of HD licensed clothing and you'd be buying shots for all your Harley buddies. Everyone knows they are the best and most powerful motorcycles in the world. I'll bet you never even ride that BMW. Get a life loser.
