I drive a 2001 Acura 3.2 CL-Type S. Im not sure if its automanual transmission (I think its called tiptronic) or if its a 5 speed automatic transmission. But I always drive in the 5th speed or the 5th gear depending on the transmission. Is it affecting my gas mileage, because all the specifications say I should get around 20 mpg in the city. However I get like 13 mpg in the city. Is this affecting my gas mileage? Or are there other things that are affecting it? Thank you.

Btw its a 3.2 L V6 so I dont know why its getting 13 mpg, cause it seems its not powerful or big enough to get only 13 mpg

Yes, I use AC half the time I'm driving. I usually use it for lengthy city driving, as I still feel like Im cooking in the car. On the highway I never use it, unless its raining.

do you EVER use A/C?
do you KNOW your tires are properly inflated?
do you mash the skinny pedal everytime the light turns green?
do you start coasting to the light if its red, or wait to slow till your closer?

have you seen the NEW rating of the fuel economy for that car? the new system of rating is more realistic.

i drive a 25 year old truck, weighs 6700 lbs without my snowplow, and i get 17mpg because i drive like mpgs are important.

ive seen it as low as 4 mpgs when i drive hard. how you drive makes the biggest difference.

Air conditioning would usually decrease gas mileage by about 10%.

If you want to get good gas mileage, accelerate gradually, and spend as much time coasting as possible. Basically, drive in a manner such that you rarely have to use the brakes. Change speed as little as possible.

city driving you dont always get the fuel mileage that the carcompanies preach. you probably get 20 on the highway but city you might be looking at 15 . stop and go traffic . fast acceleration. check your tires.
