Define ugly?

without a dictionary...what's your definition of the word ugly?

*I wouldn't say that I was ugly..but that's not why I'm asking the question...I'm asking because I don't see what people see as ugly at all...but thank you for your time

People who are not comfortable to look at could be thought to be ugly. BUT not all uglieness is on the outside.

Just because someone does not have movie star or even regular appearence does not mean that they are ugly. They could have the most beautiful soul on the planet. Because looks are everything these days some people are not given a chance to contribute - just by the way they look.

You could be the most beautiful person on the planet but if you are mean and selfish; cruel and unkind then you are ugly in my book.

Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I would suppose ugly is also. I have heard people say someone is ugly and when I see them I don;'t feel the same way. So I would say everyone has a different view of ugly.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. So many people think they are ugly when nobody else does. No matter how much you re-assure them, they won't believe you. I've seen people who seemed to be on the unattractive side and their hair was clean and beautiful. Clothes were fresh and they were really nice which made them beautiful in their own way...It's a shame how people hate themselves in this day. Someone says the tiniest little thing and it starts this huge problem with self esteem, food or alcohol binging, plastic surgery, starvation dieting, etc..

I'd say that we can look to the seven deadly sins for answers:

Gluttony: Obviously, you become overweight
Envy: Jealousy is never pretty
Sloth: Out of shape and lazy people are not attractive
Pride: It's hard to find a narcissist attractive
Greed: Is someone who's ripping people off pretty?
Lust: Too much of a good thing is always bad
Wrath: How attractive is someone who's always mad

In a nutshell: We make ourselves ugly by the things we do

But the upside to that is that we can also make ourselves beautiful

The concept of ugly is very much like beauty...it lies in the eye of the beholder. Some features may be considered universally ugly but they may not be to everybody.

I define the word ugly as mean spirited and manipulative, when will people begin to look past all the physically features of people. All that glitters is not gold.

it's all in the attitude. some of the most beautiful people are truly ugly if they have a bad attitude or think they are better than everyone else or treat people like crap. and some of the so called ugliest people on the outside are really beautiful inside.looks do not matter. you can't judge a book by it's cover.being ugly to me means being rude. i hate rude people.

ugly is a word that is used to make people feel bad , but it should be used to describe an attitude.

ex.i think attitude is very ugly when your hair isn't done because you just feel that you are ms.perfect

Ugly in physical appearance is someone who looks like they were thrown together without a thought and are bitter and resentful because of it lashing out at people for this crime apon their genetics.
Beautiful they would be if they were friendly and caring and sharing even if they looked "ugly".
The truth is that even if they were nice and ugly, i wouldnt fancy them readily. They would have to cater to the tastes of my ego quite a lot before i see beyond their physical appearance and gave them my love, or my____, you know.
Its crude but its true.
People dont fancy personality on a sexual level, only on a social level.
Its unfortunate if you are ugly, but if you can get through this barrier youve achieved more than manny do in their whole lifetime.
