I want to create my own petsite. I have drawn many wonderful pets and have so many ideas. I know how to make layouts for a website. However I don't know how you make it so that people who sign up can keep their pets. I know all that magic isn't done by javascript.
I want to make something like Neopets. Or Subeta. Or Jinopets.

I am not trying something complex...just starting with simple things like adopting a pet and a few items and be able to feed it.

You will probably want to set up a chat room as well for people to chat about their variouse pets. If you compartmentalize it the way yahoo has it would make it very easy but it may take up some space on your PC.

if you are trying to get people to log in and have their "own site" where they load their pets pics and stuff then you will need to have a database.

Javascript, PHP and MySQL...
thats all you need along with html/css for the design..
