Why not ask the foreign exchange student what the temperature is?

As for the season, the southern hemisphere experiences the seasons 6 months out of sync with the northern hemisphere. If it is summer in the north, it's winter in the south. If it is autumn in the north, it's spring in the south.

Keep in mind, however, that the closer you are to the equator, the more minimal seasonal changes are.

It straddles the equator, so part winter, part summer.

You're questions sound like great conversation starters with your exchange student. Why don't you save them for him/her?
