Today My computer shut off when I was using it. Is it a virus? if so, what kind of virus is it?

It could be a virus but it is more likely overheating because of high ambient temp these days. To check if you need to improve case ventilation, try running the PC w/ the case or side panel open and point an electric fan towards the motherboard.

If problem still persists, it may be due to power supply or RAM module instability.

The most common cause for this sort of thing is excess heat inside the case, primarily of the CPU and/or Power Supply. Slide or remove the case cover, reboot, and check to make sure fans for both are working well. If not, you'll have some replacing to do. Good luck.

Check in Event Viewr to see if it has recorded any errors.

Double click Administrative Tools via Control Panel and select Event Viewer. Check the Application section and double click on the Error to see what it says.

Make sure nothing is covering the fans. If nothing is you may need to blow it off with Dust remover... The Compressed Gas Duster stuff. If that doesn't work you will probably need to buy a new fan.

Could be bad sectors on your hard drive, could be operating system error a virus many things. do you get an error message if so what is it?

it could be a bad driver.if you recently installed and software or devices try uninstalling them and see if it happens again.or try updating your drivers.i.e. sound card ,video card,and so on.
