Are there verbal ways? For example wouldn't me telling my husband to buzz off instead of busting out the windshield of his Lexus be an example of verbal passive aggression?

Oh, MY! I'm blocking here, because I was married for 8 yrs with the MOST passive-aggressive man on Earth!! The mechanism is to act covertly in such a manner that it will create anger in the other person and then they feel superior while you are ranting in futile anger! I can't find a good definition, but I'll bet that your husband is the passive-aggressive one, acting in such a way as to create anger in YOU! He could then feel superior that you had either broken out the windshield or telling him to buzz off! Actually, your telling him to buzz off is very direct! I think p-a is one who will NOT deal with his anger directly--overtly, but goes covertly to provoke the other person. If this hits your situation, let me know...OR in any case...

No, it'd be verbal aggression. Passive aggression would be if you told him, "sorry, you're going to have to tell me later, right now I can't hear you talking because I'm having an argument with myself in my head about whether or not to bust out the windshield of someone's beautiful car."

No dear, that is aggressive aggressive and is appropriate.

Passive aggressive would be not doing something he expects you to do, such as he lends you the car to go to your sister's and you leave the car there (not returning it home as would be expected)

Verbal passive aggressive would be when he is empassioned, say with anger, and demands a response of you and you ignore him. Don't do that, either, cause he might kill you (deservedly, in that case) and I'd miss you.
