Sporks are best for survivalist and backpacking situations. You never know if you'll need a spoon or a fork. Plus, you want to save weight and room. Why carry two utensils when one will suffice? I have a spork with a switchblade on the handle. 3-in1 utensil. Sweet, huh?
p.s. I saw KFC mentioned above. Kentucky Fried Chicken (the REAL name) is the grandfather of sporks. We must bow down to Colonel Sanders.

i love a good spork... sometimes i like to get fifty or so of them from taco bell and pass them out randomly on the street...or i draw little faces on the and then have famous battle reenactments... yep sporks are great
