It's a funny notion. Democrats actually won the popular vote when George Bush first ran. They have always been just a few votes short of a majority in both houses of Congress. They hold many governorships, and thousands of positions at the state and local level. Would you say the Republicans are washed up becasue the Democrats now hold a slight majority? Politics always swings back and forth. Voters are fickle, and if they are unhappy in the next election, we'll probably see a Republican majority again.

If you look back at history, almost no party ever survives more that a 2 term president. Bush {republican}, 1 term then Clinton {democrat}, 2 terms, Bush 2 {Republican} that's just the nature of the fickle voters.
The war I think, had or has very little to do with how and why voters select our next president.

Huh? Dem candidate won (at least) the popular vote in 2000, Kerry lost by 2.5 % points in 2004, the Repub congress majority kept declining until they finally got booted out.
There are some intelligent Americans out there, thankfully.
Clinton had 60% approval rating when he left office, would've been elected again if he could have run.

Because socialism doesn't work very well without coercion.
Now that the neocons have given the opposition a horrible example of what else doesn't seem to work very well without coercion, they are all on a level playing field.
Once the "Hey, at least we aren't Bush" line fades away next year, things will get back to something more normal.

it provided a perfect mask of a power grab. the pelosi/reid regime was able to promise a quick fix...read that the free lunch...which never materialized. instead of spending the first thousand hours doing what they said they would to we got 757gate, the territorial vote grant the jefferson bribery fiasco and so on. its called doing one thing and saying another..a common liberal trait.
