Reading this as (4y + 5) / 7 = 7
4y + 5 = 49
4y = 44
y = 11
Please note that brackets are required to make question clear You say four y plus 5 divided by 7--does this mean:
4y + 5/7 (only the 5 is divided by 7)
OR
(4y + 5) / 7 (the whole expression is divided by 7)
The confusion is resulting in you receiving many different and incorrect solutions.

Multiplying both sides of the equation by 7 gives us

7(4y + 5/7) = 7(7)
28y + 5 = 49
28y = 44
y = 44/28
reduces to
y = 11/7

so y = 11/7 or in mixed form 1 and 4/7
