I think that the customs agents wouldn't give you any problems. To avoid awkward situations I would say not to bring anything with an inside compartment for batteries..etc. This will cut down the likely hood of them having to handle said objects.

Look them straight in the eye, say your are in sales, and ask if they would be interested in purchasing similar items for their personal use, if so to give you their name and number and you will send them a catalog. Then watch them fumble and get embarrassed.

Pack them in the luggage that will go into the plane and not into a carry on bag.
Also, my motto is: "if they sell it, i'm not too embarrassed to buy it, or carry it home."

put them in your suitcase, not your carry on.
secondly, they are trained to know what those devices look like, so they don't embarrass you. =)
