Deacon James is my favorite,
but I also like Tristan Rhys

I think it's important that the name sounds good but also means something you like. At some point kids always look up the meaning of their names so it's best to make sure it doesn't have some awful meaning. I looked up your choices and here's what I came up with :
Deacon - is an English name that means "pastor"
James - Hebrew meaning "supplanter", the name of apostles and kings!
Lucius and Lucian - from the Latin word lux meaning "light" - "bringer of light"
Rhys - Welsh name with several meanings - "enthusiasm", "running", "a stream"
Tristian - I couldn't find this one but Tristan is a Celtic name meaning "riot" or "tumult". I assume Tristian is the same.
Ryder - old English for "mounted warrior"
Alexander - Greek meaning "defender of men"

Of them all, I like Tristian Rhys. I am afraid that the names Deacon and Lucian might cause teasing from classmates. Tristian Rhys has a very nice sound to it. Just my opinion.

I like Deacon James out of all of them.
If you give him a name like Lucian or Lucius he will always have to spell it out to everyone and also pronounce it when someone is trying to call out his name.
Deacon is nice. A gorgeous little boys name as well as a mans name

Lucius Alexander is a good strong noble name for a boy. I don't really like the others.

Lucian and Lucius will most likely be pronounced "LU cee an" and "LU cee us" by most strangers. Consider that when he has to spend a lifetime correcting people.
