Why not consider all that the Almighty has done + can still do.
By trusting God in trials we learn what He can do in our lives

Not today, but sometimes;
But feeling desperate is a state of our mind except for people who lives in real poverty or attacked by somekind of nature's disastrous things (flood, earth quake, tsunami, tornado, fire etc) and or in the middle of civil war.
BUT AGAIN :
With today's technology invention, people should know which areas are dangerous and which are not, people can seek info unless they for some reason cant or dont want to, move.
And the most desperate feelings come from desires/dreams/expectation which are, some times more/higher than what people like to work for.
It doesn't mean that I dont believe in God Will but, there are so much carry on these days which in my opinion seems almost everythings blamed to God.
Faith is OK, but Faith does not mean to ignore science and technology.
We, human being, mankind, are equipped with brain, intelect as well as soul,awareness ; and of course we also equipped with emotion, desires/expectation.
To live well, happy and still maintain enthusiasm, the 3 aspects should be in balance.
This is what all Holy Books try to say.
The story and the verses are not for us to rewrite or quoting but for us to think and to make it into actions in daily life.
Every day at night we can check ourselves whether we, during the day live according to the teachings or not.
That's only my opinion.
