Here's a question that I've often wondered now, you know, is it a paranoia? Or something the medical practioners state to keep condom companies from aquiring profit? A scare to keep those in check, in other words, to abstain, to get married instead. Even now a days, as the HPV is so prevalant even in those who have never had sex since there are hundreds of types, how on earth can we be safe anymore besides being abstinant? Is this another way of population control by the government?

The truth is that condoms are meant to prevent pregnancy not stds. The reason being is that when you penetrate your partner, your pubic areas are touching and the risk of getting an std goes up. Also, with all the juices down there its easy for the bacteria to travel around

Well its probably true because now a days you hear commercials and advertisments about flavored condoms and coloured ones...etc..but you never hear any about a guarantee to protect you. I dont think the companies care about the protection part just about selling them because they know people will buy them sice they are going to have to. The older ones probably focus more on the real reason why people use condoms. No wonder all these 14 year olds are getting pregnant....

Condoms are just as effective as ever. There are some things that they have never protected against.

The abstinence programe hasn't been doing too well. The results of a study into its effectiveness has been released.

A lot of school programs have gone to abstinence-only education, and part of their curriculum is giving a lot of scary (and false) statistics of how ineffective condoms are. They are trying to get people to wait to have sex, but it is just giving them excuses to have risky sex (since they think condoms don't really work to begin with).

They are just as effective as they always were, if not better.

^Latex condoms are the best, but of course there are no guarantees, and condoms have to be used properly and not reused. Ugh. Please make sure they haven't been in your wallet since 1989. You can also get STD's from foreplay as well. The bottom line, no pun intended, enjoy just don't be stupid about it.

I believe that people are using more and more of the old condoms, rather then buying new ones. That is a big reason why there is so much pregnancy and stds. That's not the only reason of course.

I've never heard anyone say condoms are becoming less effective. Where did you hear that? (It's bullshit, by the way.)
