1) Playing on a team with a mediocre record this season?

2) Injured: being run into the ground by ole Nutty boy?

3) Arkansas doesn't produce Heisman trophy winners?

4) McFadden WILL win the Heisman , so this question is null?

First off, the SEC might be the toughest conf, but dont blame media juggernauts Mich, USC, ND, and OSU b/ of that. That fact is there hasnt been an offensive talent in the SEC that ranks in the category of Heisman. Defense doesnt win Heismans and dont say OH Jamarcus Russell! He didnt really break out till his SR yr and his numbers still werent amazing. Just face the fact that offensive minded teams in the Big 10, Pac 10 produce large offensive numbers and win games.

Secondly, McFadden is the first true athlete out of the SEC to prove his offensive worth to the Heisman in a long time and he definitely should win if he has another superb year.

Thirdly, to answer your question yes they need a decent season 2-3 losses max for him to have a chance, but more importantly I think is injury. He has a lanky frame with a good upper body, but long thin legs like Adrian Petersen (who already has a concern on injuries and durability). So he better stay healthy.

P.S. No I'm not a SEC hater, I vehemently believe the SEC is the toughest conf. and I'm sorry and glad my team isnt in that conf. but what I do hate is when people hate on other conferences just by using the fact that the SEC is the toughest conf. Fight for your team... not your conference... and only Florida and LSU fans can really back up their team right now...

YES HE SHOULD! The Heisman Trophy is supposed to be given to the best player in football. I know that his team has 4 losses but it should not matter. in his game against LSU who has one of the best defenses in the country he nearly ran for 200 YARDS!!! not only that but 2 rushing touchdowns and 1 passing in regulation time. he is by far the best RB in the country and the only reason he isn't a lock to win is his team would be pitiful otherwise. DARREN McFADDEN FOR HEISMAN

None of the above. The only way that Darren McFadden will not win the Heisman is if another player has a great season.

mostly #1.. the SEC West is stacked with NASTY Defenses.. and Arkansas just won't have the depth and talent at O-Line to produce the kind of stats needed to win the heisman.. also the loss of Mustaine is gonna hurt McFadden alot.. also a new system to learn (3rd one in as many years) and he's walking around with a bullseye on him.. he'll probably end up injured but it'll be a result of the rest of this..

There is always someone who can separate themselves from the pack to beat a guy like McFadden. For example, if USC goes undefeated and Booty puts up great stats, it would be a lot harder for McFadden to win. Similarly, if a guy like Brian Brohm carries his team to a BCS berth, that will take votes away from McFadden. I think McFadden is the clear favorite to win right now, but there are SO MANY things that could happen to make it so he doesn't win in the end.

He will win Heisman! The only way he won't win is if he gets injured. Because Arkansas is in the SEC, he will get noticed even if his team is awful.

it's a combination of 1 and 2

Houston Nutt doesn't seem too interested in getting Darren McFadden the most yards he possibly can. He seems interested in getting the most he can out of Casey Dick and his receivers.

Steve Slaton is going to show everyone his superior skills and jukes, making for a sick Heisman highlight reel.

5. He's not playing for U.S.C. or a Limp Di** Q.b. from the Big 12
i.e.: Eric Crotch and Jason Whatever . They're sittin in a trailer court somewhere stroking their Heismans
