Dragonball Z Budokai Tenchaichi 2 for Wii help?!?

Question

Yea,i recently bought the Dragonball Z Budokai Tenchaichi 2 for Wii for my diehard Dbz cousin whos 11,and he can't fuse to characters in-game,for example,say you have Goten and in the "Look at skills" thing,It says you have to do so and so to fuse to become Gotenks..But we couldn't get it to work so...Yea..Anyone know why?

This is how you do it:
You can only fuse characters in tag teams. Meaning that to get gotenks you need have trunks and goten on the same team.
Also you need to unlock gotenks first in order to use it.
