Yes I have locked my keys out of my car. The occurrence of this has to greaty do with what i call the "Fleeting Moment of Ignorance". This happens when you realize that your keys are in the car at the exact moment you release the door swinging shut and make a futile attempt to grab the door before it closes. This fleeting moment of ignorance is immediately followed up with the "Ignorance Observation Moment". This is the time spent with your face pressed to the drivers window or the windshield with both your hands on eithr side of your head shading the light to see into the car confirming the fleeting moment of ignorance.

Great question, and HHHot photo!!!. It happens more than you can imagine. You're in a rush and the second that door slams, you realize what you just did. I used to be a locksmith. Always have a spare set of keys, somewhere, either at home or with a family member. My son did it recently, vehicle running and I went with the spare. It beats paying $75 or more to a locksmith. Hope she's feeling better about that now! ;<)

OH YEAH!
1. Locked them in my TRUNK TWICE! lol
2. I locked my infant son in the car by accident WITH the car running. I started the car to get it running from the passenger side so the drivers side was locked and I forgot, I put him in the back seat of the passenger side and accidentally locked the car. Some nice man came out and got in for me for free. (BTW places ALWAYS do it for free if there's a child in the car)
3. Locked in my car several times. (these were days before I had keyless entry)
My ex-boyfriends mother locked her keys in her car AT LEAST once a week (usually) for over 10 years straight! I couldn't begin to tell you all those stories.

I did that at the car wash. Man I was so mad. Good thing the walk to get the spare key wasnt too far away. About a 1/2 mile. After that I started keeping a spare in my wallet.

Yes, i did that. The car that i had years ago hahaha:) We called someone to open the car and get the keys:)))
It was horrible. Because the moment i closed the door i realized that the keys were inside and i was like "ohhh sh.."
I was not late for anything though because it was when i arrived home.
I love my car now because you can never lock your keys inside:)

I was a courier for 5 years and locked myself out all the time! I went out a purchased 7 keys for my car. I still carry one in my wallet, give one to my Mom, one in my office desk. It is so much cheaper than having a tow truck or a lock smith come out. Sorry for your sister, make a suggestion that she keep a key in the house, or in her wallet.

Two years ago I locked my keys in my car with my engine running and my purse and cell in it. Yeah that was a nice little $65 to spend before even getting to work on a Monday. =)
