I'm 18 atm, and I like many books. This is a list of the books I have read and liked, keep in mind, that some of these are for younger people, but I still like them, even today. Sorry, don't know all the authors

The Seventh Tower series
Left Behind series
All Quiet on the Western Front (though I don't really like the genre...)
Deltora Quest series, at least the orignals
Mists of Avalon
Wrinkle in Time series

I haven't read a whole variety of books, but If you have any suggestions... not Harry Potter, I didn't like reading a hundred pages and nothing happening; Not Star Wars; And not Lord Of The Rings...

Bernard cornwell has a few series'. he's got one about a soldier named sharpe in the british army during the napoleanic wars. Another about king arthur from a more accurate and bluntly historical point of view. Then there is one about a northumbrian and his adventures during the viking invasion of saxon england. Also another about an English soldier in northern france during the 100 years war. These are all great series', in fact, cornwell was given some major knightly award by the Queen herself last year. They're great books both for adventure and historical value. Also, in the opinion of millions, cornwells description of events on the battlefield, both medieval and modern, are shockingly real and engaging.
I would definately check them out at his web site.

Ender's Game. by Orson Scott Card. It is my favorite book. Even though you are 18, I still think you will love it. My sister read it at 19 and loved it so I think you will too. Hope you read it.
:) Oh yeah. It is a series so the goodness doesn't end with one book.
His Dark Materials is a awsome series also. By- Philip Pullman.
