I live in a fairly small and broke town I suppose! I'm very upset I just so happen to live in a neglected "ghetto" neighborhood well most of us are making an effort to keep our homes and restore the value of our homes but our streets are terrible the water lines were recently replaced/repaired but the roads are muddy, theres huge tire tracks, and pot holes, and broken asphalt. This town has been rumored to be a crooked little town. My question is " Who should I talk too or what should I/we do to get our streets fixed?" Please help it's a real eye sore to all of our homes. My neighbor considered a petition but I want more advice. Thank you!

I would suggest the petition. If you form a local community committe, it would be advisable to have a ombudsman and a lawyer involved.

Caution every who participates not to use foul language or personal attacks. Just have them state the facts without any flowery additives.

Plus every person of legal age call each level of goverment from the local politician to the state governor and ombudsman. Note the date and time of the telephone call and the response.

Plus every person of legal age write a letter to each level of goverment from the local politician to the state governor and ombudsman. Put the date and time of the telephone call and response in the letter. Keep a copy of the letter.

Plus every person of legal age send an E-Mail to each level of goverment from the local politician to the state governor and ombudsman. Put the date and time of the telephone call and response in the E-Mail. Make you save a copy of the E-Mail. People who do not have access to a computer can use public facilities such as Libraries and also ones who have computers and internet access can share their computers with less fortunate people who do not have the resources.

Remember that E-mail addresses can be made for each person who do not have one using yahoo (free).

Inform the local state newspapers of the problem.

Wait for about a month, if there is no action repeat the procedure. Be a thorn in the side of the Politicians.

If a politician thinks that a problem will hurt their pole ratings, the politician will take action to rectify the problem. The best time to take action against a Town Council is with 3 to 6 months of their re-election. If it is done too early, people have short memories and forget about the real problem even when they are walking and driving over it.
