I definiatly want to write a novel. Mainly becasue I have so many ideas in my head and I don't know how to make a movie, videogame, or any other sort of thing that would let me express my ideas.
That's the beauty of writing isn't it? As long you have the heart and the will to write, you can write a book. (Well besides basic language skills, but...)

I love writing and so of course I dream of writing the next best book, novel, story whatever you want to call it.
I think I can safely say that I will write a novel (maybe - hopefully - more than one) and get it published etc. I know you don't make much money from books unless they're really popular and on the best seller's list etc, but people should still give it their best shot and follow their dreams.
The only people who can become successful novelists are the one ones who can stick at it and have the guts to follow through their dreams. Writing's not just about words.
But I'm kind of hoping I've got enough guts to do it, because it's been top of my DREAM LIST for a very long time. But I'm only 15 so :(
My advice is to just stick at it.

I very much want to be a novel writer. Yes, I agree with you that it is many peoples' dream. Countless people want to become published novelists. Much fewer will actualy become this. I cannot actually give you a number or a percentage of people, because I don't know what thier writing is like, or thier habits. Those who will become published however are the ones who:
1.) Work on their novel (actually write it and finish it)
2.) Keep editing
3.) Don't care what other's opinions are (concerning hating the idea and loving it)
4.) Are educated in the basics of writing (spelling, punctuation, etc.)
5.) Have a love for writing
6.) Are people who actually took the time to sit down and think of their own plot ideas and come up with their own story to write. They are unique and not cliche copy novels. Also, they usually have an interesting twist.
7.) Send of their manuscript over and over again
8.) Listen to critiquing
9.) Are careful about who knows about their ideas and don't post it all over the world (don't let it be stolen)
10.) Have a natural talent for writing
Those are 10 skills that I think future novels have/will gain. Those are only some and they are my opinion. Good luck with your writing dream! Hope to see you on the shelves!! ^.^

I do. Definitely. I always dream about talking on Oprah or something about the shocking success of my novels. I love writing, but right now, a novel is a distant dream. Not too distant, though, because I know in my heart that's what God's got in store for me. Maybe when I'm older, I'll have the time to go through with a novel. For now, I'll still keep writing.
I know for sure I'll be a novelist. And stay dedicated and hold on to that dream, because you'll be one, too. And, who knows, we could up on Oprah... =)

I have a plot that I am considering/ hoping to write into a novel. I am excited about it, because I have never before imagined a plot that I actually thought was possible to make into a novel.
To go all the way, and finish a novel that one is proud of, I would think, takes a lot of perseverence. I hope we all work our hardest and best with the story-lines we have, to make some first-rate novels!

I'm working on writing a novel right now. I've got some pretty good ideas, and I'm shooting for a book that will have literary merit enough to be chosen for a novel to read in schools. I'd love to know that kids have to evaluate what I was thinking when i wrote the book and I what my overall writing style was. It's a fun thought.

Lots - and if you typed the first word of the first page of your dream novel you are already a novelist.
Some people, write to be published, some for money, and some just to write.
I just find writing therapeutic and wish the best to all of you have hit the first key.

I did
I'm still here, and I have my 5th novel coming out in August.
I think the majority of people posting on this site are NOT writers, but just have big dreams. Judging solely based on what these "writers" are asking on this site, you can see that the ingrained gift that makes good writers successful simply is NOT there in them.
I would say probably one person out of a thousand on this site will actually get something published. Thats about it.
Love,
Snag

I guess I could. I usually start a book and never finish it, though. I've got a really good one going, but I've come to a dead end. I think I might just end it with a "to be continued" sign on it..and start it again somewhere else in teh next book.
