If you swim on your period without a tampon you will be polluting the water and humiliating yourself when you get out of the water and blood runs down your legs.
Contrary to what people say, your period DOES NOT STOP IN WATER! What happens is, the water disperses the blood throughout the pool so quickly that it only LOOKS as though your period stops.
Trust me it does not stop, and it will be embarrassing.

There is nothing wrong when you are in the water the force of the water one helps you to relax, two you wont bleed in the water. I've done it for years even on my heavy days and never had a problem with bleeding in the water.
Nothing bad about it matter of fact it's a good thing to be moving while on your period and not laying around.makes it move a long just a bit faster.
The person above me. The immune system is in no way impared or effected by your period. I dont know where you got that info but it's very wrong.
The whole point of a period is the shead the lining of the uterus, so that new lining may be formed to concieve a child. Has nothing to do with your immune system what so ever. Your immune system is only weakend by viruses or bacteria. Not by something that occurs naturally in the body.

There is no big deal. If you're clean and you can use a tampon, without leakage. I swim on light days. If you were going heavily, it would be polite not to take a chance.

There is nothing bad, but if you do not use a tampon you can make a mess in the pool for everyone to see.

I live on the gulf coast and they heartily recommend that if you are bleeding, you stay out of the water....so, with that said, at the pool, you might find yourself in it alone unless you use tampons (and that can leak). At the beach, you might find yourself dinner!
