i mean i have kids but how long after intercourse does it take the sperm to get to the egg because if i did this 2 weeks before my period i couldn't get pregnant right?

sperm can live inside of us for a long time, i've heard up to two weeks...so it is not how quickly it gets to the egg, but how long it will be alive, waiting for the egg to ovulate...two weeks before your period sounds like a possible time frame to get pregnant.

You can get pregnant anytime during your cycle and 2 weeks before your period in most women would be at your most fertile time. I got pregnant a day before my period was to start , which is rare according to my doctor but not impossible. My last period was April 1 and my next period should have started on May 6 according to an ultrasound I got pregnant on the 5th of May. Anything is possible.

Sperm can, ironically, live inside a you for up to 5 days (but in a man only about 3) before they die. So if you had sex within 5 days of ovulating (typically 11-14 days before your period) there is a chance you are pregnant.

2 weeks before you period is when you are most likely to get pregnant. You have to have sex during the time you ovulate in order to get pregnant. Ovulation lasts about two days and it occurs right smack dab in between your periods (in most cases anyway). So, period comes every 4 weeks... 2 weeks is when you ovulate, you have 2 days for the sperm to reach the egg.

Sperm can live up to 48 hours inside you. There is no way to absolutly time your ovulation. Everyone is slightly different.

14 days for the first date of last period is the MOSt fertile
so ........ you are at the highest time to get pregnant right now - if thats the case
