Put a DVD in the drive, don't worry if it doesnt autoplay. Give it about 30 secs, then open My Computer and check the icon status of your drive. If it is not showing the DVD in the drive, then the head cant 'see' it. This is a common problem, and is caused just by dirt collecting on the DVD drive head. Get a CD/DVD head cleaner, under £5 at most stores and give the drive a good clean. In future wipe all CD's & DVD's before putting them in, and only have the drawer open when putting in or taking out discs. Airborne particles can quickly 'dirty' the head when the drive is left open.

Go to My Computer, right click on the dvd drive icon, select Play/Autoplay.

Frist try another dvd or one you have played successfully played before. It just might be that disc.

If you can, do a system restore, and see if that helps.

If still no joy then you will have to go to help and see if you can trouble shoot the problem. You may have to reinstall or update the drivers.
