There is a pimp my ride web site, and you have to fill out a form, pay $2.00 and apply to be on the show. If you are chosen, and that is a big IF, your car will be picked up and fixed up(or down depending on how and who you get an opinion from), then you are responsible for the taxes for the car, which is 50% of the reported value of the job. In other words, if your car is now worth $1000, and they fix it up to the value of $12,000, you owe the government $6000. In some states, you will have to also pay state taxes for the reported value of the car to get the tabs renewed next time that comes up. Then you have the insurance issue. Insurance companies will only insure the Blue Book value of the vehicle, which is the $1000, minus your deductable. Chance of theft....HIGH.
