Pip... I agree that Obama would be better than Hiliary, but is GWB really conservative? On what basis might someone call him conservative?

Clintonian (yeah, i just made that up) politics did great for our budget the last go round.. but sadly I think Obama is more of a Clinton democrat (in policy, not morally) than Hillary.

No more of the G.W. Bush style Conservatism (Clinton was infinitely more Conservative fiscally than Bush) that's for sure.. we can't take it.

Edit:
no no, that was my point.. I guess it's hard to convey emphasis and sarcasm in words.. he's not.. Clinton was actually a Conservative on many of his fiscal matters, something many people forget these days... and Bush is not Conservative at all.. but you can't really call him Liberal with it either.. he's just spend happy. I didn't mean to convey that Bush represents true conservative spending, rather the opposite.

Generally speaking, the economy does best when it is freed from governmental restrictions. Republicans tend to want that more than do Democrats.

Of the present crop with a chance of winning, probably Fred Thompson or Rudy Guiliani fit the mold of leaving the economy free fo restrictions. Huckabee is less likely to win, but probably also is in this mode.
