Normally raising taxes is not good for the economy because the government has proven over and over to be less efficient than industry. After all, the gov't cannot go out of business. But, if you are running deep deficits, raising taxes will help control inflation risks.

Now where did you get a idea like that. Now you might find a convoluted liberal willing to feed you some far fetched scenario about how raising taxes makes more government jobs, while this could happen, the only way the government makes jobs is buy spending your tax dollars. Remember, no nation in the world has ever taxed itself into prosperity.

depends...

short term, they usually are bad... unless you think the economy is growing too quickly and is unstable due to the growth, then it can be used to cool it down... which could be viewed as "good"

but long term, tax money can be used to improve education, job skill programs, health care programs and much more... which can improve the skill level of workers and the health level of workers... which can be very good for the economy, long term...

It doesn't... tax increases are not designed to stimulate the economy, they are used to pay for the government, for govt programs and govt debts... it's that simple.

It is good because it gives the poor more services to improve their livestyles.

I know that many economic conservatives are going to cry but please look at how good the Canadian system is working. It is a good example for the USA.
