In Sports Illustrated today Bud said that he will attend the game when it happens. Personally I think he should be there. Don't you?

Yes. Dirty Barry may be my least favorite player, but he will be breaking the ultimate sports record. Adding an asterisk is a whole other question....

Yes, he should be there. I'll try and be non-partisan about the "steroids issue" in my explanation...

If Selig doesn't buy into the steroid controversy over Bonds, there is no reason he should not show his support for the breaking of such a notable record.

Even if Selig is suspicious about the steroid thing, he should go anyway. As the commissioner during the time period when the steroid issue was discussed, he ultimately must take responsibility for it all. If he fails to attend, then it seems like he's implicating Bonds in the steroid thing. And if he is implicating Bonds (regardless of whether Bonds should be implicated - a different debate), then he is implicating himself for not dealing with steroid issues sooner.

Whatever one thinks of Bonds, it seems as if a non-appearance of Selig would reflect badly upon himself instead of upon Bonds.

As the Commish of MLB he has a responsibility to be there. As a fan of baseball (which he claims he is) he has a responsibility to be there. And as the man who let this happen, he has a responsibilty to be there. He needs to see first hand what his failure to fix a problem has resulted in, a big scandal. (I'm not trying to turn this into a debate about whether Bonds did anything or not, but rather say that this situation has turned into a huge mess) As for Hammerin' Hank, I agree with what Bonds said. "He has a life....there's no telling when I will break this record."

Of course. He is the Commissioner. Had he not, he would have further tarnished any good thing he ever did for the game, which is very miniscule.

Henry Aaron should be there too. I mean it would show how classy he is to show up, no matter what his beliefs about Barry. He should man up and not be a big baby about it! Everybody knows what a great player he was, so what if a little record of his is broken. Big Fing deal!

GO BRAVES!

He should. Its a big moment in sports history even IF he did steroids. As for Hank, he said he wasn't going to be there and I find that just fine. He said he'll probably be golfing somewhere. I really don't like Berry regardless of his controversy, but I think seeing him break hit will be something I will remember.

No. Is Selig to just follow Bonds around once he gets one home run away? Besides, what is the importance of him being there? When Bonds breaks the record, they will stop the game and make a big deal about it. The fans will cheer and his family will be there, why would he even care if Selig in attendance?

of course! this is the most illustrious record in all of sports. Bonds has never failed a drug test, and all the HRs he hit before 2003 were legal, steroids or not.

I think the commissioner of baseball should be there.

If Seligula happens to be the commish at the time, then yes, he personally should be the presiding official.

He is the Commish so hell yeah. Even if he doesn't like Bonds he has an obligation to be there
