Wrong person to ask is me, I am it seems forever putting my foot in my mouth, it makes you almost afraid to talk. What is politically correct on Monday is wrong on Thursday. There are no set guidelines, they change to frequently and without notice, you don't realise you have erred until you have already spoken....it is a no win situation

I have written a blog entry on this topic (see below), but here's an excerpt:
"Rational, fact-filled argumentation is one of civilization’s greatest achievements.
All people in a free society benefit when discourse is civil, which means that it should be reasoned, fact-filled, literate, specific, and respectful of the moral standards of the majority. Let us think and speak clearly and with the best of intentions.
Honesty doesn't mean a complete gut-spilling, nor does it require that harsh or cruel words be used to convey one's honest thoughts.
Thoughts or opinions need not be expressed in the most offensive way."

There aren't any.
The overriding rule that I find works for me in life is to treat everyone with respect irrespective of who they are or what they do, irrespective of their race, religion, sexual preference, disability or religious observance. I find that pretty much keeps me out of trouble.
The idea of 'political correctness' is put about by (amongst others) newspapers like the Daily Mail who use the term as a catch all for anything they don't like. I suspect that you're not too fond of having to curb your tongue and hence your pejorative terminology of 'the pc brigade'. Not sure who gave you a slapped wrist for 'brainstorming', but I used to work in the health service and I've never heard anyone complain about use of that word.
And thanks Tina UM!

The rules are in the guardian news paper and channel four news.
The general rule of thumb is if it offends the people that are normal and belong in a country then it's okay to do or say, otherwise you the sperm of Satan and should rot in a jail cell.

Stupid people go with political correctness...
But I think it's foundations are found in the Human Rights Act from the EU.
Basically, you can't say anything that might offend somebody.

To the powers above, ''UP YOURS''

I would not alter my way of thinking and speaking to suit a bunch of irrational people. If they don't like it, they can call the ACLU and sue me.
