I think it's a warning.I know for sure it's said that if certain ones (crows or sparrows)fly in your house it means a death in the family.

I think he needed glasses. Or it could be that there was a mix up with the Windex commercial where the birds shut the door and watch the man walk into the window after they ring the door bell. He may have thought he was supposed to fly into the glass.
