I have already replaced the brake pads and the car seems to be running and breaking fine.

Perhaps you can have your rotors turned and made smooth again if there is enough metal left on them instead of the $50 plus per to replace. But you have to do something to correct the problem, or your new pads will wear prematurely and cause braking problems.

Your brake pads will not wear evenly, and will eventually result in needing your rotors replaced. Expensive deal to go through, and not a good idea to let this problem continue. The pads will deteriorate quicker than if your rotors were not grooved. Also, you risk having brake failure. If possible, you should look into having your rotors machined. However, it is likely that when you have them machined, you may have to replace the brake pads again.

The grooves in the rotors will just eat up the new pads you have installed. Then you will have to keep replacing the pads more often. You don't say what kind of car it is but most auto parts stores carry rotors and most aren't that expensive or hard to replace.

It will wear your pads into the grooves eventually and you will not have the same braking power as you would on a good flat surfaced rotor.

Pads on a smooth rotor will stop and wear evenly.
Pads on a worped or grooved rotor will wear out and the breaks can fail under pressure.
Please aether go to the junk yard and get some used ones or replace them to ensure proper breaking .
When it comes for breaks, please don't take them for granted
And safety

Eventually the rotors may crumble and it will cost you a lot more to repair. I have seen it happen on many different vehicles durring my time as a front end repair mechanic.
