By "free", I'm guessing you mean being a responsible taxpayer with a mortgage, a car payment, car insurance payments, utility payments, possibly children that need to be loved, fed, clothed, housed, nursed when sick (sometimes all night), a full time job sometimes 2 full time jobs, medical insurance payments...is that what you mean by being "free"? Sweetie, I was in your shoes many, many, many years ago and at times I wouldn't mind being back there again. I realize that you probably think, "Yeah, but you don't know me or my situation!" And you would be correct, I don't. I do know that there are days when I would love to have someone else take care of the bills, the 2 jobs, groceries, insurance and still be able to tuck me in at night but then also, I would have all of the "bullshit" as you call it to deal with again and I would have to say "No thank you!" because I would never want to go through all of that again. Please don't wish your life away!! Enjoy and appreciate what you have now, live for the moment and rest assured, the "rat race" will catch up with you on your 18th birthday! Take a deep breath, you'll get there sooner than you realize.

I agree with wittylaughing.... I am way above 30. Sometimes, being fourteen can be difficult. It is true. However, it is a precious time. Try to enjoy it the best you can. Take the right decisions. Don't go in drugs. Drinking also kills brain cells. You will need them when you'll be thirty. Remember that your parents are human beings, not perfect, but they want the best for you. Appreciate them the best you can. Life is not complicated. Every thing will come in the right time.

It's actually a lot harder than you may think. Yes, you have freedom to do those things that you described, however, freedom always has consequences and as an adult there is no one to run to when the chips are down. You're faced with more difficult challenges in life like how to pay your mortgage and miscellaneous other bills, pressure from work and trying to balance that with home life. Life is a struggle no matter what age you are...it's all about give and take and allowing time to mature and mold you into a respectable person in society.
Best of luck to you!

Well, I'm 29 now so I guess I could tell you that you aren't exactly free. That's what everyone says, but you are in the way you are talking. I can go wherever I want, as long as I have the money & time. It is nice to have a better sense of myself now. When I was 14, I was so confused about everything & self consious. When you get your freedom, take my advice & try to spread your partying out a little, if you do it all at 18, you'll flunk out of college.

Mentally it feels the same. Physically it gets harder and harder. As you age you can't do many of the things you still want to because there are so many more obligations. For example - right now I should be folding laundry, unloading the dishwasher, cleaning the bathrooms, starting dinner & on & on. And, this is my day off work! Enjoy being young - there are many other things to do now - And by the way, drinking is not all it's cracked up to be, and driving is at times a nightmare (large city, rush hours)

You might as well enjoy 13. I always thought how great it would be to be old enough to be able to do whatever I wanted. Then I actually grew up and realized I had lots of freedom ( to work, to pay bills, to try to do what's right, to take care of my kids and husband) Although I love, love, love my family, It was easier when I was 13. Enjoy only being responsible for yourself.

Heck, at 30 you are hardly free--you have debts to pay, decisions to make, jobs you hate but you are a slave to the job because you need the money... I wish I was 14 again!
