I work at home using a computer. Every day I find myself falling asleep mid afternoon. The sleepiness is so compelling that I frequently find I have fallen asleep slumped on the keyboard. It sounds funny but it is a real problem!

I have to say that i agree with the others. You need to have say 20 minutes away from the computer and take a brisk walk or have a shower that will soon wake you up. Do you live in a hot country?? Cos thats how i feel in the afternoon. I need to have an hour in my bed, and have been trying to stop so i just do a bit of cleaning or go to the gym. Doesnt work every day though. Good Luck

Go and speak to your doctor in case there's some underlying problem.

If no medical problem, take a look at the amount of exercise you do, the amount of sleep you get. More importantly, look at your diet. Sounds like the mid-afternoon sugar crash after a starchy lunch might be making you tired.

I'll be starting a computer study course in September and I've been advised not to spend more than 90 minutes at the screen. It could be that you're straining your eyes if you do spend too long at the screen so give it a break every so often. A break of ten minutes or so should be sufficient.

Take a T.O at the same time every day, 3.15pm and lie down somewhere comfy. Set your alarm to wake you up after 15 mins. Wake up, have a shower do some stretches. you'll feel energized and ready to work again in no time. You might even find you won't need to after a while.

Try taking a short walk outside when u feel like sleep beckons. It'll refresh you. Alternately, try some peppy music and dance for a few minutes. You'll be re-energized. Then there's always the tried and trusted caffeine buddy.

Gee, you need to get up and get some exercise. I don't mean just getting up from the computer and going to the kitchen or the bathroom. I mean get up and go for a BRISK walk or a run. (And I mean BRISK walk---put your butt into it). Then you can come back refreshed to do some more work. A lot of people who work from home (not everyone--so don't get mad) tend to really get out of shape. They don't get any exercise and they are so close to their own kitchen that they eat and eat and gain and gain.

So, back away from the computer. Right now.
Go for a walk!
