Read what interests you, but ask yourself, "Why did the author think it was important to write this for others?" Who did what to whom, why? This will help you analyze written material, and can also be applied to textbooks. Extracurricular activities include sports, band, art club, math club, etc. What interests you? There's probably a club for it. Check them out first by going to a meeting, and then decide if it fits your interest and if the people you meet are people you would like to know and hang with. If you join, there will probably be projects requiring you to spend time with them. If there is a subject you have trouble with, see if you can find help studying it at least 2 hours a week so you can improve your performance. Make sure your help is qualified. Calling the school to ask is a good way to find someone. (You may get a nice letter of reference out of it too.)

you could try to see if you can get the list of books your english class will be reading for the year. you could read them all and analyze certain aspects of them. it will get you ahead. it will be a alot easier if you have read the book that way you dont have to stress about reading 2 chapters one night and not having the time.

I was in the science club... Maybe you could see if your school offered that. We went on great field trips and I had a blast.

I like your dedication, you should start taking pre-ap / honors courses. I think you will be successful in it, talk to your counselor about it.
